Bass Fishing Tips
1. When you are fishing with a buzzbait and the bass are short striking or you seem to be having trouble hooking them use a trailor hook. This will give you almost 2 inches of added striking area behind your bait and allow the bass to get the trailor hook into it's mouth.
2. In low light conditions or muddy water use dark colors or black skirts with gold blade. This will help the bait contrast the surface water and help the bass to locate the target.
3. Use buzzbaits in early Spring to help locate the bedding bass that are protecting thier beds. When bass are bedding they are very reactive, but it is sometimes hard to locate those that are willing to strike. Once you have located the fish that are willing to strike you can use a more appropriate lure to target their bed such as a worm, crank bait, or spinner bait.
4. Remove the skirt on your buzzbait and replace it with a curl tail grub to give a smaller profile when the prodominant bait fish are small. Matchig the hatch is very important in bass fishing.
5. Buzz Baits work best in calm water on a cloudy day.
6. Use a clear metalflake skirt and a clear blade when fishing ultra clear water on blue bird days.
7. Bend the wire of the blade arm to cause the blade to tick the bait. This will cause a new and different thump fo the fish to react to.
8. Detune your buzzbait by bending the blade arm left or right so that you can manuver the bait into or around objects.
9. If you are trying to get your buzz bait to make a little noise you can tie it to the side mirror on your vehicle and drive around with it for about a week and it will cause the bait to squeek.
10. Add strips of metalic tape to your buzzbait blade for additional flash.
